What began as a creative hobby in Rebbetzin Raizy Reisz’s kitchen, has grown into a flourishing chocolate truffle business that is bringing sweetness- not only to customers across the region, but to the broader Toms River community as well.
For many years, Rebbetzin Reisz operated a local playgroup serving families in Toms River. Alongside her work with children, she always had a natural passion for art and baking. Initially, the Rebbetzin began creating cookies and desserts for family Simchas and friends in the community. Before long, word began spreading about her beautifully designed, pastry creations and requests quickly started pouring in for cakes, cookies, and Purim Mishloach Manos orders.
As demand increased, what started as a side project gradually evolved into something much larger. Rebbetzin Reisz began creating gifts and desserts for businesses as well, including employee and client gifts for companies such as Imperial Real Estate.
Looking for a more practical and efficient product line while balancing family and community responsibilities, Rebbetzin Reisz began experimenting with pre-made chocolate truffles. The concept proved to be both elegant and practical — easier to prepare, cleaner to manage, simple to store, and highly popular among customers. Eventually, the truffle business became the centerpiece of what is now known as Choco Hues.

As orders and demand continued to grow, Rebbetzin Reisz made the decision to close her playgroup and dedicate herself fully to Choco Hues. Through years of hard work, creativity, and determination, the business expanded significantly. As a result of her hard work, her husband the Rav was able to continue devoting his time and energy to Torah learning, Chinuch, and his work within the BMG yeshiva world.
Beyond the business itself, Rebbetzin Reisz says the experience has given her a unique perspective on the remarkable Achdus and Chesed that define the Toms River community.
“The amount of kindness in Toms River constantly amazes me,” Rebbetzin Reisz told Achdus News. “People here genuinely care for one another. Whether it’s neighbors supporting local businesses or people volunteering to help transport packages out of town, there’s a real feeling that everyone looks out for each other.”
Many of Choco Hues’ orders are shipped to Brooklyn and Upstate communities. Rebbetzin Reisz says she is continually touched by how willing people are, to assist with deliveries and transportation.
At the same time, local support has remained deeply meaningful to the family. Neighbors frequently place orders and encourage the business, creating a strong sense of communal connection. The Reisz family, in turn, uses the business as an opportunity to give back — regularly distributing elegant chocolate gifts to more than 100 members of their Kehilla; as a gesture of appreciation and gratitude.
For Rebbetzin Reisz, Choco Hues has become more than just a successful business. It has become an extension of the warmth, generosity, and unity that continue to shape the growing Toms River community.
