The Toms River Township Council approved the purchase of the Ridgeway Road property from the Jersey Shore Council of the Boy Scouts. This property, located at the end of Whitesville Road, is 3.85 acres and will cost the township $1.1 million. This purchase will allow the township to have open space that won’t be touched by developers. This purchase will deplete the township’s open space funding, and therefore the township is now requesting approval of a 1% property tax to be dedicated to more open spaces.
