Toms River Recycling Schedule Changes

Mayor Mo Hill has announced recent changes to the recycling schedule in the Toms River. Up until now recycled items were collected  the first and third week of the month or the second and fourth  week of the month depending on the neighborhood. The Department of Public Works will now be collecting recycled garbage  every other week throughout the year. This change will result in an extra 2 collections each year. The day of pickup for each neighborhood will remain the same as it was before this new implementation.

The Department of Public Health, which  trains staff and oversees the efficient use of equipment regarding the town’s parks,buildings,and grounds, recommended the change.The Mayor and his council studied the efficiency survey which clearly  demonstrated that there would be an 8% increase in service. This extra service will not affect property tax payers at all.

Mayor Hill continues to urge his constituents to download the Recycle Coach app. This free app is available  for download  via the App Store or Google Play ,and provides essential information regarding city services.Local times for trash and recycling collections  are updated regularly. There is also valuable information about how to properly store and dispose of different materials.

The Recycle Coach app was launched in 2018 as a statewide initiative and has received positive reviews. Mayor Hill is confident that as more and more people utilize this integral resource the township will continue to experience more efficiency and savings in this area.
