There has been a large outbreak of car theft in the vicinity of Ocean County. Toms River police and the Ocean County Sheriff urge people to be careful not to leave their key fobs inside unopened vehicles. There have been 6 expensive vehicles stolen in Toms River alone since the December holiday season.
“The entire tri state area has been targeted by an organized vehicle theft ring”, Toms River police said in a Facebook post. “Do not be the victim of a preventable crime”. All residents are urged to lock their cars and not leave any personal items inside which may entice thieves.
