This Week’s Edition of Achdus Magazine… Mrs. Dvora Kahan Shares her Recollections as a Young Wife Living in Lakewood of Old

Achdus Magazine was privileged to speak with Mrs. Dvora Kahan, the mother of Toms River resident, Mrs. Yocheved Kikin. Mrs. Kahan was one of the early kollel wives of Bais Medrash Govoha wo lived in Lakewood back in the 1960’s. Her husband, Rav Chaim Kahan z”tl, was a talmid of both Rav Aharon Kotler and his son, Rav Schneur, zichronam l’vracha. With the encouragement of Rav Elya Svei, z”tl, the Kahans bravely set out to Denver in 1967, to be marbitz Torah and establish Yeshivas Toras Chaim there. As pioneers, they, together with many other early Kollel families of Bais Medrash Govoha, set the stage for the abundance of Torah that we have in America today. We are honored to share Mrs. Kahan’s story in the following paragraphs.
