This week, Achdus Magazine is privileged to bring the Toms River community an exclusive interview with one of the Jewish world’s most accomplished and respected writers, Mrs. Barbara Bensoussan, as she shares her remarkable journey with our readers. For decades, Mrs. Bensoussan has been a leading voice at Mishpacha Magazine, where her insightful articles and captivating storytelling have inspired countless readers. A recipient of the prestigious Simon Rockower Award for Excellence in Jewish Journalism, she is also the acclaimed author of the bestselling books Well Spiced Life, Pride and Preference, and A New Song, each reflecting her remarkable ability to weave meaningful Jewish values into compelling stories.
Behind her successful career lies an equally inspiring personal journey. Raised in a traditional Jewish home, Barbara’s search for truth ultimately led her to Torah observance, a decision that transformed the course of her life. After studying psychology and beginning a Ph.D. program, she chose instead to build a Torah home, eventually meeting her husband in Eretz Yisrael. Today, they are the proud parents of six children and recently made their home in Jackson, New Jersey.
In this candid interview, Barbara reflects on her inspiring journey to Yiddishkeit, her decades-long career in Jewish journalism, the inspiration behind her many books, and the experiences that have shaped both her life and her writing.
