In this week’s edition of Achdus Magazine, we have the honor of featuring Mrs. Shirley Lehman, a long-time resident of Toms River. Shirley had in fact lived in Toms River close to a century ago and we were excited to sit down and meet with her at the very same home that she was raised in as a child! Shirley moved here as a young girl of age 4 (approximately) in the 1930’s. Hearing Shirley’s story, reminded us of the very first edition of Achdus Magazine which featured the story of Sam Kaufman, the first Jew to live in Toms River. How incredible it was that while speaking with Shirley, we found out that she is actually a cousin of Sam Kaufman! Let us hear a firsthand report of what Toms River looked like in the early 1930’s, so different than the bustling town that we see today. This is an interview you don’t want to miss!
