A planned addition to the Ocean County Justice Complex will proceed over the strong objections of Sheriff Michael G. Mastronardy. The sheriff was not in favor of putting the estimated $70,000 worth of renovations into the existing structure which is located between the Ocean County Jail and Toms River High School South located on Hooper Ave.
The County Board of Commissioners gave its unanimous consent to authorize the architect to go ahead with the renovations. Sheriff Mastronardy was not present at the meeting. When he heard of the board’s final decision he announced that his formal opposition was at its end as there was nothing more to be done. The project is estimated to be finished by 2025.
