This past Sunday, on Super Bowl Sunday, a very special super bowl party was held in Ocean County. The Super “Soul” Super Bowl party included free food, haircuts and the distribution of gift bags filled with clothing, movie tickets among other perks to the Ocean County’s homeless population.
The part was hosted by Urban Air Adventure Trampoline Park located at 1256 Indian head Rd. in Toms River. The organizers of the event were “One Ocean County”, an organization founded by Orthodox Jewish community activists who tirelessly work to build bridges between people of different cultures and faith.
The first Super Soul Super Bowl party was held after an individual named Meir Kay saw a homeless man in Manhattan holding a cardboard sign that stated “I don’t want food, I don’t want money, I want someone to talk to.” Kay, told the Asbury Park Press that he was inspired to organize the very first party because I needed to let these fellow human beings (who are homeless) know that they’re not alone”. The initiative has spread over the past few years and continues to have more local communities join as word has spread about this special annual event.
