Rallies in Support of Toms River Police Force Meetings to Go Virtual Due to Safety Concerns

The Toms River Township council was supposed to meet in person this Wednesday night at Town Hall for a second reading of Mayor Rodrick’s proposal to replace four positions on the police force with 8 EMTs.

However, the opponents of the proposal have scheduled two rallies in support of the police, one for Tuesday at 3:00 pm at the corner of Washington and Robbins Street, and the other on Wednesday at 6:30 pm outside Town Hall, only half an hour prior to the meeting.

Due to safety concerns arising from crowd overflow, Council President Coleman has decided that the meetings will be held virtually via Zoom.
