Increased open space tax was voted against in a vote of 14,551 to 11,314. The Open Space Tax vote, which first began in 2000, is intended to increase the township’s budget to purchase open space. Although no specific parcel was made public, Mayor Mo Hill expressed interest in purchasing land in northwest Toms River, where “most of the open space is left in town”.
