The Toms River Business Improvement District (TRBID) has introduced Melissa Fernandez as its new Executive Director. Having been with TRBID since 2022, Melissa has spearheaded many of its marketing and event initiatives and now becomes the first Latino leader of the organization.
TRBID, a nonprofit organization, works to enhance the economic vitality and appeal of Toms River’s downtown area. Through events, marketing campaigns, and community improvement projects, TRBID fosters connections between local businesses, residents, and visitors. Its mission is to establish downtown Toms River as a vibrant hub for commerce, culture, and community engagement.
Melissa’s professional background is rooted in creativity, strategy, and community-focused leadership. Before joining TRBID, she worked in New York as a senior producer, managing projects aimed at diverse audiences. Her expertise in event planning, marketing, and nonprofit management positions her to lead TRBID into a new era of inclusivity and growth. With a degree in education and child psychology, Melissa’s leadership style is thoughtful and people-centered, complemented by her experience in the arts and community initiatives.
As Executive Director, she plans to expand TRBID’s partnerships and strengthen its support for local entrepreneurs. Her focus will be on creating innovative programs to benefit businesses and elevate the downtown area as a destination for residents and visitors alike.
