Township officials have said there is no reason to be concerned today when you see helicopters flying low over Toms River. Jersey Central Power & Light will be inspecting its power lines, using low-flying helicopters.
Township officials have said that the inspections began Friday January 20, and will continue for about six weeks. These inspections are a comprehensive visual inspection, that goes from structure to structure, and enables the inspectors aboard the helicopters to get a thorough look from top to bottom of every structure, all hardware, and conductors.
The helicopters will be moving very slowly and will be seen hoovering while completing the inspections. The helicopters being used for these inspections will be white with black and red stripes, Hughes MD500 with red tail registration number N717MA
