The Community Speak Out for the Ciba Geigy site cleanup settlement discussion, is scheduled to take place today, Wednesday, January 25th. The meeting will begin at 4 pm the Speak Out is scheduled for 6pm, in the auditorium at Toms River High School North, on Old Freehold Road. At the Speak Out, residents will have the chance to come forward and make their voices heard.
It is only fair and responsible to allow Toms River residents a voice in this. Mayor Maurice Hill, of Toms River, has stated that the preservation of open space is welcome news, and he appreciates the remediation of pollution. However, he feels more is needed to make this a safe, fair, and lasting settlement. Additionally, he recommends that a fund be set up for future issues that may arise pertaining to people’s health as a result of pollution in the area.
