This Week’s Edition of Achdus Magazine… Achdus Speaks with Toms River Resident, Mrs. Chaya Levana Schneefeld, Director of Camp Bnos Tzafona

Every once in a while, a story comes across our desk that sounds almost unbelievable — until you meet the person behind it. Camp Bnos Tzafona, a summer program located deep in the remote landscapes of Siberia, has quietly developed a reputation for being unlike any other Bais Yaakov girls camp. While many camps focus on excitement and nonstop activity, Camp Bnos Tzafona was built around a very different vision: creating an environment where girls can slow down, develop resilience, and discover strengths they never knew they had.

Behind this unusual concept stands Toms River resident, Mrs. Chaya Levana Schneefeld, a woman whose own upbringing was, by her description, grounded and entirely ordinary. Yet over time, her passion for education, emotional growth, and meaningful camp experiences led her to imagine something radically different from the typical summer model. Drawing inspiration from her parents’ stories, her own memories of camp, and a deep understanding of today’s social pressures facing teens, she set out to build a program that emphasizes maturity, responsibility, and inner confidence — all within one of the most challenging environments imaginable.

In the following interview, Mrs. Schneefeld shares the journey that brought Camp Bnos Tzafona to life, from its unlikely beginnings to the philosophy that guides every activity and workshop. What emerges is a fascinating blend of joy, heart, and vision — a reminder that sometimes the most unconventional ideas are born from the most sincere desire to help young people grow into their strongest selves.
