42 districts were awarded Education Stabilization Aid. Unfortunately, Toms River was not one of them. Approximately $30 million was distributed to districts that the state approved of.
Toms River Reginal Schools had applied for $5.236 million in aid.
The NJ Department of Education, distributed this round of aid, based on what they felt were the districts of highest priority needs. One key area that The Toms River Reginal Schools wanted this aid for, was for funding of staff positions. Toms River already has high classroom sizes, and wanted to ensure that class size does not increase even higher.
