The annual fire district elections are set to take place on February 19 2022. Residents of Toms River will vote on the annual budget for Toms River Fire Department District # 2 . The fire district budget this past fiscal year was $ 3,868,613,77. Of this amount $3,308,221,77. The money is used to replace essential apparatus, firefighter safety training and projects, as well as the purchase of specialized communication equipment.
Toms River Fire Department District # 2 has shown careful and fiscally responsible allocation of all funds. They properly plan ahead for the necessary capital appropriations that come up each year needed to ensure the safety of our community. To date no debts have occurred.
Toms River Fire Department District # 2 is comprised of the Pleasant Plains Volunteer Fire Company as well as the Silverton Volunteer Fire Company. The department covers 25 square miles from the south border of Lakewood to Maple tree Rd; as well as from the east of Manchester / Jackson border to the Silverton waterfront.
It is noteworthy that throughout the pandemic no fire related services have been affected. Toms River Department District #2 fielded and responded to over 1200 calls. They also participated in many community events and fire prevention functions involving local schools and scout groups among others.
It is integral to each resident of Toms River to come and vote YES to the proposed budget this coming week on February 19 from 2-9 pm. Voting will take place in the Pleasant Plains fire house on 40 Clayton Ave. or at the Silverton Fire House on 15 Kettle Creek Rd.
