Toms River – Ocean County will celebrate America’s 250th birthday with two free community events leading up to and on Independence Day, giving residents an opportunity to honor the nation’s history and enjoy family-friendly festivities.
The celebration begins on Wednesday, July 2, with the Stars and Stripes Spectacular Patriotic Concert and Drone Show at the Ocean County Parks Administration Building Bayfront Field, located at 1198 Bandon Road in Toms River.
The evening will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a live performance by a 25-piece orchestra conducted by Wilbur Whitman, featuring a selection of patriotic music. Following the concert, attendees can enjoy a drone show lighting up the night sky.
Families will also find games, informational displays, and a Revolutionary War-themed exhibit highlighting the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Parking for the event will be available at Cattus Island County Park, with complimentary shuttle buses transporting guests to and from the venue.
On Friday, July 4, Ocean County will host a local observance as part of the nationwide Ringing from Sea to Shining Sea initiative. The program will begin at 1:00 p.m. on the lawn of the Ocean County Courthouse with a public reading of the Declaration of Independence.
At 2:50 p.m. Eastern, participants will join communities across the country in ringing bells simultaneously to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence and celebrate the nation’s 250th year.
Both events are free and open to the public, offering local families a meaningful way to celebrate Independence Day and reflect on the history of the United States.
